Northampton Jazz Workshop features New Orleans vocalist Cindy Scott and guitarist Brian Seeger Tuesday, August 7th, 7:30 to 8:30PM followed by an open jazz jam session until 10:30 PM at the The City Sports Grille at Spare Time Northampton, 525 Pleasant St., Northampton.

Hi All,
We are thrilled to welcome back for their second appearance at the Workshop Cindy Scott and Brian Seeger. Cindy has been living, teaching and performing for many years in New Orleans where she met and teamed up with Brian. She just recently started teaching full time at Berklee in Boston so is now a Beantown resident. Her style is eclectic but she is a real deal jazz singe for surer. Her repertoire spans a wide variety of styles, moods and intensities. Can't wait to play with her again. Here's a quote from her bio:

“She has the serious jazz chops that enable her to improvise on a dime on whatever chord changes are thrown her way… the highest praise of all, she really doesn't sound like anyone else.”
- Tom McDermott, Offbeat Magazine, HBO's Treme    http://cindyscottmusic.com/

Brian Seeger, dubbed “One of New Orleans’ best jazz guitarists,” by Gambit Weekly, is on the forefront of the New Orleans music scene. His performance and recording credits include Aaron Neville, Charlie Hunter, Big John Patton, Chris Wood, Jason Marsalis, Bobby Previte, Rakalam Bob Moses, Stanton Moore, Karrin Allyson, Evan Christopher, Johnny Vidacovich, Shannon Powell, Nicholas Payton, Davell Crawford, Jo Lawry, Theresa Andersson, Delmark Records tenorman Ed Petersen, Zachary Richard, Rebecca Paris, Cindy Scott, Alex Bosworth, Brad Walker, the Organic Trio and many others (click here for the big picture). His 1999 selection by New Orleans Magazine as one of their “Jazz All-Stars” (other honorees that year: Irving Mayfield, Davell Crawford and Ricky Sebastian) is a fitting summation of his stature in the local music community. http://www.brianseeger.com/index.shtml
